Mack's Lure - Pip's Box / Leader Caddy
by Terry Wiest

We all know we should be more organized, especially when it comes to our fishing gear. But, how many times do we fumble through our vest or wading coat pockets, tackle boxes, bags, drawers, etc, etc, just to find a hook in one spot, leader material in another, yarn, corkie, jig all in seperate spots. AND, you think you're organized. Whew.

Well we need to think back and remember our old friends at Mack's Lure. You see Mack's came out with a simple solution many years ago but most of us have simply never used them to their full potential. What I'm talking about it the old tried and true Pip's Boxes. Simple right! They hold pre-tied leaders and keep them tangle free. They also have a clear lid so we can see the hooks inside.

So what's new about that? Nothing. What is new however is that the Pip's Boxes now come in assorted colors, and, introducing it's big brother, the Mack's Lure Leader Caddy.

Now let's take organizing our gear to the next level. First of all, yes you can keep your pre-tied hooks and leader in Pip's boxes, but let's also pre-rig up the hooks. Corkies n Yarn can be added to the hooks, or, pre-tied jigs. Now however, being let's use the colors to our advantage. What I've done is use the color of Pip's Box to indicate what color presentation I have in the box. So now, if I want to fish something pink, out comes the pink Pip's Box. Orange, out comes the orange and so on.

The Leader Caddy uses the same concept as the original Pip's Box, however it's much larger, plus it has an anti-reverse lid to ensure no tangles. I use the Leader Caddy for my larger presentations and double hook setups already pre-tied. Again. multiple colors help me find different colored rigs without fumbling through all my gear. Since I'm using pink for my double hook pink corky setups, I use black for my pink worms!

For keeping in your vest, wader jacket or tackle bag, these are the perfect tool for keeping your setups organized and tangle free!
